Cardiac arrest on a flight to Sweden
A Swedish businessman was on a plane from Turkey to Sweden, when suddenly the flight personnel made an announcement, asking for a doctor on board.
One of the passengers, a 35 year-old man, suffered from a cardiac arrest and medical help was urgently needed. Luckily a Swedish businessman, who was a not a doctor but was carrying a FRED easyport pocket defibrillator in his hand luggage, was able to come to the rescue. Together with another passenger, who happened to be a cardiac nurse, they were able to do the necessary resuscitation measures. By the time they reached Arlanda airport, the “patient’s” condition was stabilized.
Thanks to the lucky circumstances of having a defibrillator right at hand, he was given a second life!
